Matthew Diffee has been contributing cartoons to The New Yorker since 1999. He was recently singled out by the New York Times as one of the more prolific of The New Yorker's new generation of cartoonists. To date, he has had over a hundred cartoons published in the magazine. In addition to cartooning, Mr. Diffee recently competed in the world championship of a little known sport called "joggling,” a combination of juggling and running. He placed first in the 400-meter event and will be the subject of an upcoming film documenting the process.
Mr. Diffee is the co-creator of “The Rejection Show,” a monthly off-Broadway comedy series showcasing the failures of otherwise successful comic writers and performers. Guests share their rejected material from such institutions as “Saturday Night Live,” “Comedy Central,” The Onion, and The New Yorker, among others. The show has been featured in Timeout New York, Newsday, The New York Post, The Los Angeles Times, and on ABC News. Originally from Texas, Mr. Diffee now lives in New York City where he is an avid banjo and fiddle player, juggler, filmmaker, and an abstract painter. He is 6’2” and weighs 175 pounds.
